Prayer for the beginning of the semester...

Prayer for the Beginning of the Fall 2007 Semester
By Fr. Martin O. Moran

Dear Lord:
We are standing today as it were, between the past and the future, a past semester still fresh in our memories and crowned with a glory unsurpassed in so brief a history, and a new semester radiant with the hues of hope and imagination. While with one hand we seem to be reaching back to things that have been, and with the other stretching forward to the things which are to be – the present semester before us as a substantial fact for gratitude and rejoicing – let us, in the brighter light of today, read more clearly each duty we owe to the cause of the Catholic Church in Higher Education. Let each one of us nobly resolve to be faithful to our trust in God’s Divine Providence and the furthering of His Kingdom among the young men and women we serve at our campus ministry sites.

Lord, our God, be with our university and college trustees, administrators, faculty, staff and our own student leaders and staff as we begin this new semester.

May the light of your Word and the joy in living the beatitudes remain a mainstay in our lives.
For this we pray…AMEN
